First Home Buyers Assistance Scheme

  • Full stamp duty concession for purchasing a first property up to $800,000. (Potential savings up to $31,065).
  • Partial stamp duty concession on a sliding scale for first property purchases between $800,000 and $1,000,000.
  • No concession above $1,000,000 purchase price.
  • An eligible first home buyer can also now buy with someone who is not their spouse and who is not an eligible first home buyer (a sibling, parent or friend for exmaple). The first time buyer needs to be acquiring at least 50% of the property. 

First Home Owners Grant (New Home)

$10,000 government grant towards the purchase price.

  • It's a new home that no-one has lived in before.
  • It's worth no more than $600,000 (or, for a house and land package with comprehensive building contract, no more than $750,000).
  • You must also move into the property within 12 months from settlement and live there for at least 12 continuous months.

Shared Equity Home Buyer Helper

To assist essential workers in Sydney the NSW government has given eligble purchasers the option to be a shared equity partner. The following professions qualify. 

    • nurses
    • midwives
    • paramedics
    • teachers
    • early childhood educators, or
    • police officers

The NSW Government will pay up to 40% of the purchase price of an eligible property, retaining it as equity.

Requirements
      • Only be able to service a mortgage with the government contribution.
      • Meet income and asset thresholds.
      • Be able to contribute at least a 2% to a deposit.
      • Ready to occupy the property as your principal place of residence from the day of settlement.

Single parents with dependent children and singles aged 50 and over can also apply – even if they are not first homebuyers – as long as they meet the other eligibility criteria.
