Short answer is yes, its not as common as most settlements are within 6 weeks of exchange contracts, but ‘normal’ settlement is anywhere between 1 and 3 months.
It can be difficult to do but if both parties agree to a 6-month settlement (or longer), then it’s no problem. This can give the seller time to find a new property to buy and vice versa for the buyer without having to have a bridging loan organised.
